People Search helps you quickly find the right person in your and others' networks. You can use filters to identify people who meet your specific criteria and sort through your results.

Recommended: If you are looking for a particular company or person, try Look up specific people or companies using Search Lookup first.

Here’s how to use People Search

Click on 🔍Search in the Nav bar on the left-hand side of your Distill account. You can also start one here: https://distill.fyi/search/advanced/

1. Type in what you’re looking for using natural language.

2. Or, click on People search (Beta) - Individual Professionals

3. Choose which network you want to look through

   • You can look through your contacts, “My Contacts”
   • You can also look through your team’s contacts by selecting My Team’s Contacts. This is enabled by default. See My Network - How to Invite Someone To Connect on Distill
     • You can choose a specific team member’s network. Left-click on the team member(s) or unselect the team member you do not want to look through.
   • Advanced - You can also limit your search for people within a List. Search and click on the List you want to do People Search.

4. Click on Add filters and choose your filters. Some notable options include:

   • Tags (ex. VC, Angel investor, Executive, C-Suite), Keywords, Location, Job title.

5. Search through the results. We’ll include options to:

   1. See their profile description
   2. View the full profile
   3. Add to a List
   4. Show any sorting options, like keywords. Ex. Sort by “Bloomberg Beta”.
   5. See which mutuals they are connected to.

   

How to Edit People Search Results

1. Click on Edit Search to modify your filters and sorting options.

2. Or, you can click on the structured prompts to edit your filters and what you are looking for.

   • Ex. Click on Job Title CEO to change to Product Marketing Manager
